Track 0 | Name | Lord of the Flies |
Text | This piece of music is intended for use as the underscore in the "Dance/Simon's death" scene of the novel, Lord of the Flies. Following is a timed description of events as contained in the music:
Measure Min: Sec Event
1 0:00 Things are just starting up. The boys are arriving at
Jack's
7 0:14 We first hear a tribal sounding rhythm. This is a hint of
things yet to come . . .
31 1:13 We first hear the conch. Notice how quiet it is. It will
soon become completely drowned by tribal rhythms.
43 1:40 The pan flute plays the beast's theme. This is actually
the only unoriginal theme in the piece. It is lifted from the
Oingo Boingo song, "Piggies." It just seemed too
appropriate not to use.
59 2:19 The pan flute plays Simon's theme.
67 2:38 Things start to get a little more chaotic.
69 2:42 The tribal rhythm from the beginning pops up again
75 2:55 Complete and utter chaos! The boys are dancing the
pig-dance.
83 3:11 The beast theme is back in full force, played by the
electric guitar.
91 3:27 The guitar plays Simon's theme as he bursts through the
foliage and the boys set upon him and beat him.
103 3:51 A resounding percussion crash symbolises the death of
Simon.
104 3:55 Simon's theme plays mournfully as his body floats out to
sea. |
